The audience however included those who were interested in the event and not necessarily the students of Film Studies. Speaking about the Film, Mr.Saha said “‘Aboron’ is a short film set in Cooch Behar, tracing the relationship of an underprivileged sister and brother. It also talks about the attitude of the society towards the marginalised.”
Prof. Jayita Sengupta, Head of the Dept. of English said that the screening of the film gave a practical demonstration of theory taught in the classes. “The film added praxis to the concepts related to film making. Not only that, the film also projected certain pertinent problems related to gender exploitation in Indian society”.
The screening of the film was followed by an interactive session between the students and the film makers. The film could see the light of the day because of young team’s passion for film making and their creative zeal. The team is sending their debut film to the Mumbai Film Festival. The Screening of the film in the Department of English, CBPBU, has been covered in Uttar Banga Sambad.
