The Department of Education mainly deals with qualitative research in different aspects of Education discipline. Different methodologies adopted are Case Study, Ethnographic research and other empirical studies. In order to explore the gap between theory and practice, the department concentrates on Institutional case study method. The extent to which the essence of philosophy being realized in practical field is the major concern of research.
Some of the major areas of research activities are :
Neo-humanist Education
Neo-humanism is an Indian philosophy propounded by sheer philosopher P. R. Sarkar. Several works have been conducted in Neo-humanist Education exploring the dimensions of morality and moral structure among students. Neo-humanist education can bring much-needed values and ethics in our social life and can prepare students to meet various challenges of life. The studies mainly focus on the social cognitive approach adopted in Neo-humanist education for enriching morality among children.
Value education
Education without human values is nothing but wastage of crucial human resource. The Department is actively involved in research activities in different aspects of value education. The Department also focuses on exploring different approaches to moral development among students.
Other Areas
The department is involved in Ethnographic study concerns with a qualitative transformation from being to becoming an impact of ideology and physico- psychic environment on integrated personality development of children.
Educational Technology is another thrust area of research in this department.
The Department also concentrates on research in the field of Education of Children with Special Needs and Teacher Education and Educational Technology.
